Friday favorite no. 001 // Make Someone Happy by Oh Joy!

24 May 2013

Each Friday, I’ll share with you my favorite(s) for that week. Or at least that’s the plan.

This week, my favorite is Oh Joy’s Make Someone Happy video series.

I’ve been wanting to share this mini video series by Oh Joy!. There are already a handful of videos in this Make Someone Happy series. But I love the concept behind it of brightening up someone’s day, even if it’s just in a really small way. So much love and inspiration in just a few minutes. If you have the time, watch these videos and maybe go out and make someone happy!

Trying out some of these simple yet inspiring things are one of my favorite parts about this series. So over the past weekend, I printed a couple of Oh Joy’s ad lib letter from video no. 5 and wrote one to every single person in my family. ‘Twas so fun just to surprise them with something out of the blue. Because life is made up of little moments like that.

Here’s to Friday and making someone happy today!

"Everyone can find a way to keep changing for the better -- to keep growing and flourishing." -- Martha Stewart, Living the Good Long Life

Especially this week, I’m reminded of the need to constantly be growing and changing and improving for the better. This life will never be perfect on this side of eternity. So it will always be a process, a journey, a cycle of learning and getting better. And somehow, I think my mom would especially agree with me this week (;

I know my week’s been full of reminders to change for the better so far. I hope yours has been full of good things!

Note to self:

This past week, I found myself having to remind myself of this:

That, and the fact that I needed to stop stressing + worrying.

Strangely enough, I was unnecessarily stressing out over my to-do list, despite summer vacation and the lack of school work. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s funny how I so often hold myself so tightly to goals and deadlines that I forget that it’s okay if things don’t always go as planned, and I don’t accomplish as much as I’d hoped to.

The biggest thing I learned coming out of last week was the fact that I need to be flexible with my to-do list and just roll with whatever happens. This lesson is one of those that I’m constantly learning over and being reminded of often.

As always, I still have plenty of to-dos floating around in my head. But this week, I’m choosing not to let them get the better of me. I’ll take what I have and make them work, and be flexible with the rest.

I hope your weekend has been amazing.
And here’s to a relaxing and productive week ahead! (:

School’s out!

14 May 2013

The final assignments are in, the books are shelved for the year, and summer break is here! I’ve been eagerly anticipating this break for a few weeks now so I’m quite glad that it’s finally here.

The last few days since school’s been out have been busy with making lists of things I want to do over this break. Although, the list is rather long because there’s quite a bit that I’ve put off doing during the school year to focus on school work. So right now, it kind of feels a little like so much to do and so little time. But I hope that some of this planning pays off and I’ll be able to make summer vacation both relaxing and productive.

Also on this summer’s to-do list is to spend more time on this space so stick around! I promise I’ll make good on all the fun things I’ve been wanting to share.

I hope your week’s been amazing so far!

What are you planning to do this summer?

Happy blessed Mother’s Day

My mom is pretty amazing. And really, there aren’t quite enough words to describe what a ginormous part of my life she is and just how much I am thankful for her. Not only is she my mother, but she is also my friend. She teaches me life lessons, laughs with me, prays with me and for me, knows my heart, and makes countless sacrifices for me. She is my example of the kind of woman I want to be someday.

So Happy Blessed Mother’s Day, Mom.
I love you and I am so blessed to be your daughter.

Hello, May

Hello, summer vacation (!!). Hello, birthdays + celebrating some very special people. Hello, sunshine + warm(er) weather. Hello, more running and getting into shape. Hello, to-do lists + grand plans for fun things. Hello, relaxing and doing nothing.

Hello, May.  Five months into twenty thirteen – and so far, it’s been pretty swell (; I’m excited to finish this term of school and finally get to breathe for a bit.

Let’s do this.

There and back

Last week was full of good food, lots of walking + shopping, large doses of family bonding time, and overall enjoying life and all its little moments. Which explains the quiet around here.

I had every good intention to schedule posts before I left. But as it usually goes, my good intentions came to naught as the last-minute packing + pre-trip preparations took over.

But now that I’m home from family vacation, I’m working on catching up with overdue school assignments (!!!) and settling back into reality + routine after a whole week of fun and relaxing. While I (kinda) wish I were still on vacation and miss all the good times from last week, nothing beats coming home. So I’m reveling in the memories and embracing being right here, right now.

And once all the hubbub of school and stress is over, I hope to be back soon enough with some fun blog posts I’ve been wanting to share. Stay tuned!

Spending time with my favorite people.

Enjoying doing nothing and still making memories.

Being together.

Remembering God’s faithfulness and mercies.

Staying busy with school and embracing every minute of it.

Reminding myself to just breathe, despite the workload.

Working on making running a part of my daily routine.

Excited for everything coming up this month.

This weekend, my heart is especially full and grateful for all the things that matter most – family + Jesus + love + faith. I hope your weekend has been amazing!

the 21 list // wear only glasses every day for whole week

2 April 2013

I actually did this.

I wore glasses every single day, all day, for an entire week. That’s seven whole days.

And for me, I dare say that’s a pretty mean feat. Because my glasses and I have a love-hate relationship. I love how chic my frames look and how they help me to see better. But I don’t always love how I look in them.

But from Saturday to Friday last week, I decided to forget about what I thought and chose to embrace wearing glasses. And this post by oh, Joy! somehow made wearing glasses just a little bit cooler.

This item on the 21 list was one of those things I was kind of unsure of. And maybe, just a little scared to complete. But now that it’s done and crossed off the list, I think I love my glasses a little more now and really don’t mind wearing these frames of mine out more than every once in awhile.

Now, that wasn’t so bad after all, was it?

Hello, April.

March really flew by.

And just like that, we’re more than one quarter of the way through twenty thirteen. I guess it’s somehow pretty mind-blowing when you think about it like that and realize how quickly time flies.

But oh, April.

Hello, more school. Hello, family vacation (yes!). Hello, sunshine + rain. Hello, running and training schedules. Hello, to a brand-new month to start over + try again + work on things.

Hello, April.
