Wednesday words // no. 002

29 May 2013

On those days that I tend to over-think things, second-guess myself, or let my thoughts get the better of me, I remind myself of this:

power of the mind

Then I take a deep breath, choose to think God’s thoughts, and go about my day.

I hope your week’s been super duper so far; happy Wednesday!

Each Wednesday, I share a quote + some thoughts that have been especially relevant in my life over the week. Read more Wednesday Words here.

the 21 list // visit a museum

28 May 2013

When I found out that the Public Garden was having their April flea market at the National Museum of Singapore, I jumped at the opportunity to check out the market AND visit a museum, a double-win for me. It was so nice having free entry to the museum because of the flea. And I’m pretty stoked that the National Heritage Board is now offering free entry to museums around Singapore. For more details, read here.

We only had about an hour to check out both the flea market and the museum exhibits before closing time so time was rather tight and we didn’t get to spend as much time as I would’ve liked. But I loved the time I got to spend there and I’m definitely excited to go to another museum again!

I didn’t have my camera with me that day so all these photos are taken with my android phone.

‘Twas a really fun evening. And definitely a nice way to spend a Saturday doing something different.

I’m still plodding through my 21 list, albeit a little (too) slowly because there’s only a few months of twenty-one left! But I’m glad I got to cross this one off the list! (:

Friday favorite no. 001 // Make Someone Happy by Oh Joy!

24 May 2013

Each Friday, I’ll share with you my favorite(s) for that week. Or at least that’s the plan.

20130523_203901_1

This week, my favorite is Oh Joy’s Make Someone Happy video series.

I’ve been wanting to share this mini video series by Oh Joy!. There are already a handful of videos in this Make Someone Happy series. But I love the concept behind it of brightening up someone’s day, even if it’s just in a really small way. So much love and inspiration in just a few minutes. If you have the time, watch these videos and maybe go out and make someone happy!

Trying out some of these simple yet inspiring things are one of my favorite parts about this series. So over the past weekend, I printed a couple of Oh Joy’s ad lib letter from video no. 5 and wrote one to every single person in my family. ‘Twas so fun just to surprise them with something out of the blue. Because life is made up of little moments like that.

Here’s to Friday and making someone happy today!

"Everyone can find a way to keep changing for the better -- to keep growing and flourishing." -- Martha Stewart, Living the Good Long Life

Especially this week, I’m reminded of the need to constantly be growing and changing and improving for the better. This life will never be perfect on this side of eternity. So it will always be a process, a journey, a cycle of learning and getting better. And somehow, I think my mom would especially agree with me this week (;

I know my week’s been full of reminders to change for the better so far. I hope yours has been full of good things!

Adelia Makes // an introduction

21 May 2013

adelia makes2

Today, I’m really excited to introduce a new series called Adelia Makes, featuring my very own little sister!

If you know us in real life, you’ll know that Adelia and I are total opposites (as I hear some siblings are). She climbs mountains while I make stuff and go shopping. She makes gourmet recipes while I zero in on fast, easy recipes. She takes the time and effort to do things to perfection while I usually just get it done and hope for the best.

And maybe probably I’m a little biased, but this girl is super talented and is capable of seriously amazing things. She bakes and cooks and sews – so this is a little segment featuring all the fun stuff she does.

I’m looking forward to sharing all the interesting things she makes! Stay tuned.

Note to self:

19 May 2013

This past week, I found myself having to remind myself of this:

note to self {relax}

That, and the fact that I needed to stop stressing + worrying.

Strangely enough, I was unnecessarily stressing out over my to-do list, despite summer vacation and the lack of school work. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s funny how I so often hold myself so tightly to goals and deadlines that I forget that it’s okay if things don’t always go as planned, and I don’t accomplish as much as I’d hoped to.

The biggest thing I learned coming out of last week was the fact that I need to be flexible with my to-do list and just roll with whatever happens. This lesson is one of those that I’m constantly learning over and being reminded of often.

As always, I still have plenty of to-dos floating around in my head. But this week, I’m choosing not to let them get the better of me. I’ll take what I have and make them work, and be flexible with the rest.

I hope your weekend has been amazing.
And here’s to a relaxing and productive week ahead! (:

xx.

School’s out!

14 May 2013

schoolsout

The final assignments are in, the books are shelved for the year, and summer break is here! I’ve been eagerly anticipating this break for a few weeks now so I’m quite glad that it’s finally here.

The last few days since school’s been out have been busy with making lists of things I want to do over this break. Although, the list is rather long because there’s quite a bit that I’ve put off doing during the school year to focus on school work. So right now, it kind of feels a little like so much to do and so little time. But I hope that some of this planning pays off and I’ll be able to make summer vacation both relaxing and productive.

Also on this summer’s to-do list is to spend more time on this space so stick around! I promise I’ll make good on all the fun things I’ve been wanting to share.

I hope your week’s been amazing so far!

What are you planning to do this summer?

Happy blessed Mother’s Day

My mom is pretty amazing. And really, there aren’t quite enough words to describe what a ginormous part of my life she is and just how much I am thankful for her. Not only is she my mother, but she is also my friend. She teaches me life lessons, laughs with me, prays with me and for me, knows my heart, and makes countless sacrifices for me. She is my example of the kind of woman I want to be someday.

So Happy Blessed Mother’s Day, Mom.
I love you and I am so blessed to be your daughter.

Happy (Inter)national Scrapbook Day

4 May 2013

National, or International, Scrapbook Day (NSD) happens once a year on the first Saturday of May when scrappers all over the world come together to celebrate their love of this craft.

And while I don’t scrapbook as much as I like to anymore, I enjoy keeping up with all the novel things going on in the scrapbook world.

And since it’s National Scrapbook Day, I thought I’d share some of my favorite scrapbooking supplies! Paper isn’t even on the list because that’s one of my scrapbooking must-haves. While some of these collections are a little a lot older, these are still some of my favorite things that I reach for whenever I work on a project, whether craft-related or not.

NSD 2013

  • Stamps
I’ve resisted adding to my collection of roller stamps, but clear stamps are a huge favorite. I love what I can do with all the variety and combinations. So. much. fun.
  • Inks
What are stamps without inks, yes? I’m totally waiting to add this amazing gold ink pad to my stash.
  • Washi tape
    So fun and easy to use. I use them for everything  and I quite love my ever-growing collection (;
  • Mists
Mister Huey’s mists are some of my current favorites. These add the perfect touch of messy splatters without actually going overboard.
  • Wood veneers
These add the perfect touch of dimension without being too bulky.

Supplies: Dear Lizzy roller date stamp; Amy Tangerine roller date stamp and Ready Set Go clear acrylic stamps; Dear Lizzy Neapolitan chevron patterned paper; washi tape; Tsukineko Brilliance Dew Drops; Hero Arts Neon Pink ink; Studio Calico Mister Huey’s; Studio Calico wood veneers

Many scrapbook companies and bloggers are having lots of neat challenges and giveaways all day today so look out for them! I don’t participate much mostly because of the time zone but it’s lots of fun seeing what everyone one else is up to anyway.

Happy (Inter)national Scrapbook Day!
And happy weekend – may the creativity prevail!
