Friday Favorite no. 013 // spotted on instagram

23 August 2013

In all honesty, I really do try not to spend excessive amounts of time on social media. In fact, I try to be really intentional about who I follow and what I spend my time on.

But once in awhile, I get distracted and find some really inspiring Instagram accounts that keep me scrolling. So this week, I’d thought I’d spread the love + share the inspiration!
FF instagram v2

01 / Corinne Tan writes love letters to strangers and completely inspires me to write some myself!
02 / Sue Lyn is on a cookie project that is both encouraging and uplifiting.
03 / Amanda Rydell does amazing packaging + some fun DIYs.
04 / Rachelle captures life beautifully and just has such an inspiring-looking feed.

I hope this kick-starts an inspiring weekend!

Julia Child

This past week, I had several opportunities to catch up with friends + bond. It’s amazing what happens to your friendships/relationships when you spend time over food. It’s like a whole new world opens up and you connect in a brand new way. You come up with inside jokes, tell stories, laugh, and go away remembering that you have so much to be grateful for.

So it looks like Julia Child said it right.
Because I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Do work

You might’ve have heard me mention this before, but now I will emphatically say that Math is so not my thing. And for that, I will always be grateful to the friend(s) who cared about me enough to tell me that I shouldn’t be a Business major.

But just because Math isn’t my thing, it doesn’t mean I get to run away or ignore it. It only means that I need to work harder to get better at it. So while summer school this year has been a little bit of a struggle with this Statistics and Probability class I’m taking, I’m just working harder and putting in more effort to get good at this.

Only three more weeks left of this class, and I’m ready to tackle this giant for good.
Let’s do this.

Friday favorite no. 008 // inspiring websites

12 July 2013

brit+coathomeinlove

Don’t you love it when you stumble across websites that are both fun to read and inspiring at the same time?

This week, I came across Brit + Co. and At Home in Love. These two websites are full of ideas for lifestyle, home decor, DIYs, and everything in between. I’d come across Brit + Co. before but just didn’t have the time to explore much. So this week, I found myself clicking on link after link at Brit + Co.’s fun and colorful website – super informative and inspirational. You can even download their app for Android, iPhone, or Windows! Aileen from At Home in Love also has really great ideas that are a lovely mix of happy and whimsical. Her posts are easy to read, and she has tons of inspiring images over on her blog; I’m looking forward to perusing through the archives sometime. And having such a cute website is definitely a PLUS!

Both websites have very different vibes but are extremely inspirational + fun to read nonetheless. These new (to me) websites are definitely going to be good reads for the weekend. Then it’s time to bring some of those inspiring ideas to life!

Truth. But so much easier said than done.

This past week, I was reminded of a lot of things – lessons I need to learn, things I need to embrace, other things I need to change. And the journey of change never ends on this side of heaven.

So while I keep busy refining and improving my own life, I’ll remind myself to be open and gracious to life and people in general. And remember that God isn’t done with me, or anyone else, yet.

Routine.

Dictionary.com defines it as:

  • a customary or regular course of procedure
  • commonplace tasks, chores or duties as must be done regularly or at specified intervals; typical or everyday activity
  • regular, unvarying, habitual, unimaginative, or rote procedure.

In some ways, it’s a pretty big word. And it isn’t as commonplace or boring or every day as we may first think.

Because routine is the stuff that life is made out of. It may not always be as interesting, exciting, or instagram-worthy as we think it should be. But there is such a beauty in routine that memory keepers and scrapbookers are choosing to put all the everyday stories in their scrapbooks.

Routine signifies something bigger – it signifies being able to wake up to a new day of life, of fresh starts. Having a routine is having another new day to be thankful for. Routine is what makes each day what it is.

At this point, I’m working on reinventing my routine and trying to make it as productive as I can. I’m not quite there yet. But with God’s grace and strength, I’ll get there soon enough.

Wake up and smell the routine.

Maybe, routine isn’t such a bad thing after all.
Turns out, it may actually be something pretty good.

And to be honest, I actually like having a routine and quite miss having mine when I get out of it for awhile.

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are enjoying your routine today.

Everyone needs a little inspiration

6 June 2012

I know it’s been pretty quiet on the creative front here lately.

But I’ve been busy, so making stuff has kinda had to take a back seat. I’m slowly but surely falling behind on Project 52 (Can you believe that I almost forgot about making layouts?!). And Project Life is pretty much a never-ending project, if you know what I mean.

While I wouldn’t say that I’ve lost the mojo, I would say that I just haven’t been on top of things lately.

But it’s all good.

I’m taking my time to work through things, reminding myself to enjoy the process instead of stressing out and what not.

But here are some things that have inspired me of late and make me wish I could drop everything and just make stuff all day, every day instead (:

I SO need to try this color-blocking thing some time.

This reminds me that Project Life doesn’t have to be complicated because I’m totally digging this spread!

I’m going to get back into the swing of things pretty soon!
(I hope.)

How has your week been going? (:

Inspired.

3 February 2012

I was absolutely floored looking at all the sneaks of a.ma.zing new products showcased at CHA Winter 2012 in Anaheim just over this week.

I loved watching some of my favorite scrapbook designers (Heidi Swapp, Ali Edwards, Liz Kartchner, Amy Tan) introduce their new products at PaperClipping.Com. SO MUCH FUN. I am super excited/inspired by what they’re doing and what they’ve accomplished – things I can only dream of doing someday.

If I could, I’d purchase every single new collection. (Have you seen Crate Paper, American Crafts, Lily Bee and Studio Calico?!)

Now I wish America weren’t so far away so scrapbook supplies wouldn’t take so long to get here ):

Anyhow, as always, Pinterest has been inspirational and I’ve been busy pinning! (: I have SO MANY favorites this week.

This geometric photo art project by Elsie Larson is so cool. I can’t wait to try it out someday when I get the time.

Rahel Menig always, always amazes with her effective use of white space.

There’s so much more to share from Pinterest this week but I need to run! You can follow me on Pinterest here and catch more inspiration (:

I officially wish this hobby were my full-time job.

Happy weekend! (:
