Documenting on the go: Curating your travel journal kit (+ a free printable checklist!)

22 March 201630 March 2016

Curate your own travel journal kit for your next adventure (includes a list of things to bring along!)

One of the fun parts of traveling is getting to document on the go.  And while I’m still discovering new ways to make on-the-go travel documenting work best for me, the first step is just curating a travel kit and getting it ready to go.

Obviously, in addition to bringing a journal to document in,  you’ll need some tools or supplies to help you along the way, packed in your own handy travel journal kit.

Curating your own travel kit can be a lot of fun, but as a girl who appreciates variety and having options (and also because I’m used to having all my supplies readily available), it was a little challenging to narrow down my stash of supplies. #firstworldproblems

But after some deliberation, I eventually settled on the following list:

Ideas for your travel journal (and a Moleskine review)

As promised in last week’s post of my five travel journal ideas, I’m back to share a closer look at this soft-cover plain Moleskine that I finally decided to use for my Thailand adventure last year.

What I love:

Price

It ships for free from Book Depository! I ordered and had it shipped directly to my destination so I could start documenting straightaway when I arrived. Book Depository has a much better price than a physical store in this case. Win.

A Midori traveler’s notebook was a close second but I didn’t want to spend money getting a cover + new notebooks and tempt myself by being sucked into another trend where I would end up spending more than I needed to.

5 versatile travel journal ideas for your next trip (and decision-making tips!)

9 March 201630 March 2016

Stuck for ways to document your trip? Here are 5 versatile travel journal ideas to document!

Are you doing anything for spring break? I keep seeing cheap flight tickets to different countries and I’m so tempted to make plans! While I probably won’t be headed anywhere this spring break, travel is definitely on my mind as I get ready for a big trip this summer and plan to document my past trips as well.

My inner documenter always gets excited about documenting trips as I anticipate new experiences. But it can also be stressful when I get stumped as to what is the best way to document. To help me with my indecision, I turned to Pinterest and scouted for various travel journal ideas and looked for something that would work best in my situation.

I explored and considered various ideas as I was preparing for my two-month long trip last October. And I would totally use these ideas again in another situation!

There and back

Last week was full of good food, lots of walking + shopping, large doses of family bonding time, and overall enjoying life and all its little moments. Which explains the quiet around here.

I had every good intention to schedule posts before I left. But as it usually goes, my good intentions came to naught as the last-minute packing + pre-trip preparations took over.

But now that I’m home from family vacation, I’m working on catching up with overdue school assignments (!!!) and settling back into reality + routine after a whole week of fun and relaxing. While I (kinda) wish I were still on vacation and miss all the good times from last week, nothing beats coming home. So I’m reveling in the memories and embracing being right here, right now.

And once all the hubbub of school and stress is over, I hope to be back soon enough with some fun blog posts I’ve been wanting to share. Stay tuned!

The view outside the window

18 December 2012

Plane views are one of my favorite parts about flying – those blue skies and puffy white clouds somehow make for very pretty pictures. And since I’ve had the privilege of flying about these last couple of weeks, I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite plane views just for fun.

While some of these look pretty similar, none of them look exactly the same.
And I love that
.

It still blows me away seeing how pretty the clouds are. God is so amazing.

Enjoy!

Life is a journey.

Two weeks ago, I left on a plane that took me on a Journey. And when I returned this week, I came home a different person.

Leaving for Manila, I wasn’t particularly excited because I was just tired from all the traveling I’d done the two weeks before and all I really wanted to do was rest. But God had other plans for me and sent me there anyway.

Our time in Manila was pretty amazing. And I wouldn’t trade the friendships formed, the memories made, and the lessons learned for anything. God taught me so much and it was utterly refreshing getting to spend so much time with Him. I loved getting to see old friends, meet new ones, eat a ton, spend lots of alone time with Jesus, go running + swimming + play volleyball, have girl talks and stay up late (some nights), sing songs, have bonfire night (complete with s’mores – yum!), do crazy things…

God knew exactly what I needed and taught me so much. And He reminded me of what’s really important in life.

I miss my new friends more than I ever thought I would.
God is so good and I couldn’t be more thankful.

I hope your weekend’s been amazing.

Collect moments, not things.

30 November 2012

Last week, with excitement + anticipation, and two carry-ons, I boarded a plane to the Land of Smiles and came home with a camera full of pictures, and a heart full of memories, which I wouldn’t trade for anything.

While things didn’t always go as planned/expected, God was sovereign through it all and I really couldn’t have asked for things to work out any other way.

I soaked in every moment of being there – bonding with the kids, eating good food, laughing + hanging out, playing games, traveling, experiencing new things, taking pictures, teaching, spending time with friends… And loved every single minute.

Like this first post, time passed by waaayyy too quickly, and I wish we could’ve stayed longer. But I was reminded of so many things and left that town with my heart so full, and especially thankful + grateful for so many good things.

I miss this place already.

So many good memories;
God is so good, really.

I left my heart in Pua

28 May 2012

Just like that, I’m home from my trip to Pua.

It feels like I didn’t get enough time there because time practically flew by.

Despite all my apprehension, I loved everything about being there and I miss Pua already.

So many good things about this trip – the people, the food, the memories, the kids, the place. Everything.

I can’t quite put into words how amazing this trip was.
It gave me a major perspective shift – about life, about satisfaction, about simple things.

God is good.

I’ll definitely be back (:

<3

P.S. In case you were wondering, everything in my carry-on was just under 7kg. YAY me (:

Off and away!

And we are!

My little sister and I have this amazing, albeit last minute, opportunity to go to Pua, Chiang Mai to teach English.

Everyone who’s seen me travel says I can’t fit all my stuff into a 7kg carry-on. But we’ll see. Fingers crossed!

I have no idea what to expect. But I expect it’s going to be good.

See you in a few! (:
Back on Monday.
