Brown butter dark chocolate chunk cookies

22 July 2012

brown butter cookies

I made this awhile ago. I know, I’ve been bad at posting about things I’ve made in a timely fashion.

While this one doesn’t actually count towards the twenty recipes on the twenty list, I had so much fun making it anyway. Talk about a yummy chocolate chip cookie – this was it! I used regular semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of dark chocolate. And I used this recipe!

Ahh, here’s to a good week ahead – full of happy things and good food (:
xo.

20 recipes / fettuccine + soured raisin cookies

9 July 2012

This pretty much wraps up trying 20 new food recipes. And truth be told, I wouldn’t mind it lasting a bit longer. I had so much fun doing this – I’m totally putting it on my upcoming 21 list (:

Presenting recipe #19 and #20!

fettuccine

I made this quite awhile back when we were having pasta almost every day. And while my love for pasta is no secret, I was totally ready to get back to my rice at that time (: haha.

sourcreamcookies

This was one interesting cookie – chewy and crumbly and not didn’t taste at all sour cream-ish like I’d expected.

Honestly, I can’t believe that I’ve already tried twenty new food recipes. I think, somewhere along the way, I lost track and miscounted, making me think that I still had one more to go.

But I’m DONE!
Now I’m off to check this one of the list! (:

20 recipes / grilled chicken with roasted pepper sauce

21 May 2012

grilledchicken

Okay, I know this looks spicy and scary and what not. And I know I need to improve on my food photography.

But this was actually really good.
I think my favorite part might’ve been getting to do the chicken on the grill (:

I got the recipe from this book!

18 down, 2 to go.

20 recipes / pb & chocolate cookies + chicken & bacon pot + spinach linguine with creamy walnut sauce

10 May 2012

I can’t believe how close I am getting to trying out twenty recipes this year!

I honestly didn’t ever seriously consider the possibility of it, or the fact that I would try seventeen new recipes and still have four months left of twenty!

I tried these a couple weeks ago while I was on my blog break!

pb&chocchip cookies

I love how cute these cookies look!

chicken&baconpot

This one-pot dish was pretty easy – I’m putting it in the go-to recipes for when I have no clue what to make for dinner!

spinachlinguine

This recipe was from Everyday Food: Fresh Flavor Fast. I’m quite liking the two recipes I’ve tried from it so far.

17 down, 3 to go.

20 recipes / tea cakes + moroccan honey & lemon chicken + creamy lemon squares

17 April 2012

Last week was pretty productive on the 20 recipes front.

I tried out three new recipes, of which I only have pictures of two, because the Moroccan honey and lemon chicken was gone by the time I remembered to get pictures.

So.

If you happen to remember, the last time I tried a recipe from this book, it didn’t turn out too well. As in, they tasted good, but looked not-so-good. But I’m pleased to announce that the tea cakes this time tasted lovely and looked just like they should (:

I found this recipe here. But this hardly turned out like how I expected it. But that happens, right? Like not everything we make turns out like how we expect it to. So this one didn’t. Technically, it still counts towards the 20 recipes (since it’s just about trying them). But I’m definitely trying this one out again, and I hope, successfully this time.

14 down, 6 to go.

20 recipes / bacon & egg cups + pb & j swirls

8 April 2012

Before the long weekend on Thursday last week, I tried out two new recipes to add to the list – one savory and the other sweet.

bacon and egg

The cups were like quiche, sans the crust. But I loved how it used bacon on the sides to hold everything together. I’ll totally make these again. And they’re good for bringing around too because they taste good whether warm or cold.

pbandjswirls

I decided to take a break from all the chocolate and did these instead. I loved the sweet and salty combination (: Although, maybe I’ll try a jam filling next time instead of swirling it in? Making these cupcakes made me realize how much I actually miss baking them. Maybe I’ll think about opening the shop again, hmm.

I found these recipes from these books, here and here.

11 down, 9 to go.

Blessed Easter! (:

20 recipes / rosemary chicken casserole

24 March 2012

I made this for dinner one of the evenings this past week…

rosemarychickencasserole

And it turned out pretty yummy.

Simple and good, just my type (:

9 down, 11 to go.

20 recipes / gooey chocolate chip bars

21 March 2012

I made these before the weekend, but haven’t had time to put them up until now…

gooey bars

The recipe from these super chocolate-y bars can be found here!

Super indulgent (:
Enjoy!

20 recipes / Monkey Squares

12 March 2012

Why, hello again!

I hope you had a super duper weekend. It seems as if the weekend flew by because it was so busy. Makes me wish for  longer weekends! Haha.

monkeysquares

I made these on Friday before the weekend. And they were so good!
But I was in a hurry, so these photos don’t do justice.

The cake was moist and the browned butter icing was delicious! Plus, the taste seems to get better with each passing day.

You can find the recipe here. I used a different sized pan and added more walnuts. But those are the only tweaks I made to the recipe. Although, I reckon I would probably cute down on the icing next time (unless you like yours really sweet) because the quantity yielded from the recipe would probably have been enough to cover two cakes.

In my opinion, I think they taste best chilled. But honestly, they’re good any way.

7 down, 13 more to go!

20 recipes / nutella sandwich cookies + wholewheat penne with cauliflower sauce

24 February 2012

Today was completely unproductive from a to-do list standpoint.
BUT, I did accomplish quite a bit if you count in cello class, piano lessons, baking from two recipes, and making dinner.

I didn’t plan on accomplishing two of twenty recipes today. But I did.

cauliflower sauce pasta

We had this pasta for dinner, followed by nutella sandwich cookies for dessert.

nutella sandwich cookies

I think the recipe I had from Rachael Ray’s book was slightly different from the one I found on her web. And I made several substitutions to the pasta recipe because I didn’t have all of the ingredients. But the siblings liked it anyway, so it’s all good.

(I used regular penne instead of wholewheat, vegetable instead of chicken stock, dried instead of fresh rosemary, parmesan instead of romano cheese, and left out the veggies. Okay, too many substitutions, I know.)

I also made a batch of marbled chocolate brownies for a friend’s birthday this weekend.

Then I made the nutella sandwich cookies. I’ll admit, I tried to be ambitious and make my cookies with butterfly cookie cutters. But then I ran out of time before dinner had to be on the table, so I changed my mind and made round cookies instead. Maybe I’ll try butterfly shaped cookies another day when I have the luxury of more time (:

6 down, 14 more to go.

I hope your weekend is a-ma-zingggg! I’m quite looking forward to mine (:
