Ameliawrites-launch

Riding off the festivities of Singapore’s Jubilee National Day weekend, there’s extra reason to celebrate today because I am finally breaking the silence on the blog with  very exciting news!

This day has been in the works for awhile.

But it is finally here.

And I couldn’t be more excited happy and thrilled, all at the same time.

Welcome to Amelia Writes Here DOT com!

To begin, I need to give credit and HUGE thanks to my ever-rad friend Caylee for all her help in getting this set-up. She put up with rounds of drafts and ideas, me changing my mind multiple times, and patiently worked things through with me for the past three months. This day would not be possible without her and there are not enough words of thanks.

The content that you know and love is still the same but there are also changes for better. Aside from the brand new look, here’s what’s new:

  • A brand-new newsletter for you to join the party!
  • An updated About page
  • A new sidebar with the top categories I blog about
  • A sweet new scroll-to-top button for handy navigation

You should be automatically redirected to the new website, but do take note of the new domain. You can also follow me on bloglovin’.

I’m still working through organizing everything in detail and hope to have the archives organized to a t soon. If you find kinks or missing content, please let me know and I’ll work as quickly as possible to get it fixed!

I hope you enjoy the new site.

Thank you for your continued patience, love and support for what I do here. I am so grateful for your presence on this journey.

Let’s look at May

4 June 2015

With (inter)National Scrapbooking Day, Mother’s Day and birthdays in our family, May was an exciting month! Still, it flew by pretty quickly.

A fun blog hop with the Kellie Stamps Design Team for (inter)National Scrapbooking Day.

Serendipity notebooks + printing on vellum

I love notebooks.

I typically carry a notebook with me wherever I go, and I’ve accumulated quite the stash of notebooks over the years.

For my post on the One Little Bird blog this month, I put together these notebooks using the pretty patterns and happy colors from the Serendipity collection.

I even printed on vellum (yay!), and had so much fun combining digital and more traditional supplies from my stash.

You can read all the details of my project here. Have fun!

  • Paper for the win.
  • Pretty startling to know we have so much stuff. Time to live with less.
  • Can’t wait to try these chic braided styles.
  • This makes me want to cut my hair.
  • I think I need to make these. And soon!
  • Doesn’t get better than marshmallows in milkshakes, yum.
  • Making mornings better.
  • Yes to more productivity with less multi-tasking.
  • Taking notes is an art.
  • Patterns are everywhere. You just need to look out for them.

I am enjoying this less stressful week and hoping things stay that way this summer. Regardless, I’m looking forward to not doing much this weekend besides hanging out and maybe, squeezing in some scrapbooking and wrapping up some assignments.

Have a good one, guys xx.

Project Life | Collecting memorabilia

13 May 2015

10 types of memorabilia to include in Project Life | Amelia Writes

Admittedly, I am quite a pack rat and I love collecting memorabilia, whether it’s while traveling overseas or going on adventures even in my own city.

Collecting memorabilia is definitely one of my favorite parts about going anywhere.

Include memorabilia in your Project Life albums

I used to just end up with piles of paper with no where to put them. But now, I love that Project Life gives me a place for all the paper I collect (and a legit reason to keep collecting too, because they’re part of the memories!).

So naturally, I’m always looking out for different things I can include in my albums.

Right now, I’ve amassed quite a few favorites that I love to collect and include.

10 types of memorabilia to include in Project Life:

1. Postcards
2. Movie/concert tickets
3. Ticket stubs from trains/planes/buses
4. Coasters
5. Name cards/business cards
6. Maps
7. Brochures
8. Receipts
9. Price tags
10. Handwritten notes/cards

Most of the memorabilia I collect is free or pretty easy to come by. When I go on vacation, I sometimes end up paying a small amount to purchase a postcard or some sort of souvenir.

Include memorabilia in your Project Life albums

Sometimes I end up with tons of paper (yay!). Other times, uhm, not so much.

Include memorabilia in your Project Life albums

Next time you visit a place, look out for memorabilia you can take along with you, and save a piece of that experience in your scrapbook.

Do you like collecting memorabilia? What are your favorite types to collect? Share with me in the comments!

  • Love how these make such a fun and colorful DIY.
  • This looks interesting and yummy.
  • Time to make quesadillas.
  • At least one reason to teach, yes.
  • To go to university or not?
  • Good to know before I reach 25.
  • For the days full workouts don’t happen.

This week’s edition of favorites comes to you a little later than usual, but here they are nevertheless.

I’m staying busy with lots of fun things happening this weekend! I hope you enjoy it celebrating Mom this Mother’s Day.

7 May 2015

Ameliawrites-23thankful

Things have been busy around here as I wrap up the spring term, celebrate birthdays, and make plans for summer school, amidst other activities.

And with so much going on, it’s easy to get stressed out and a little frustrated/worried/frazzled sometimes.

Especially after reading Ali’s post, I thought today, now, would be a perfect time to remind myself of all the things I’m thankful for at this point in my life.

23 things I’m thankful for:

  1. I’m thankful for family dinners.
  2. I’m thankful for projects and assignments that keep me busy.
  3. I’m thankful for nights of good rest.
  4. I’m thankful for laughter and inside jokes.
  5. I’m thankful for down-to-earth friends I can connect with.
  6. I’m thankful for opportunities to trust and learn and grow.
  7. I’m thankful for the convenience of technology.
  8. I’m thankful for encouraging professors who make my college experience what it is.
  9. I’m thankful for creative outlets.
  10. I’m thankful for air-conditioning on warm evenings.
  11. I’m thankful for the newness of mornings.
  12. I’m thankful for rain.
  13. I’m thankful for the bonds of family that hold us together so, so tightly.
  14. I’m thankful for my faith that keeps me grounded.
  15. I’m thankful for the amusement of sing-aloud sessions.
  16. I’m thankful for the strengths of my ESFJ personality. And also for its weaknesses.
  17. I’m thankful for challenges that make me stronger.
  18. I’m thankful for people who are willing to tell me the hard things.
  19. I’m thankful for grace, mercy, love.
  20. I’m thankful for situations that train me to look past the surface.
  21. I’m thankful for the hope, excitement and anticipation of possibilities.
  22. I’m thankful for people who are willing to listen.
  23. I’m thankful for the gift of life.

4 May 2015

2015-05-01 10.26.54 1

With all the fun happenings from (inter)National Scrapbook Day this past weekend, I decided to save my favorite links for today instead.

The upside is that you get a double dose of favorites this week!

  • I’m all about the color-blocking.
  • I’ll admit that I own a selfie stick, but this just makes them so much cooler.
  • On blogging.
  • Gotta try making these cuties.
  • You’ll be totes on trend with this.
  • It’s okay to chill out.

I can’t believe we’re into the second week of May already. But I’m excited about the new week ahead and new opportunities to get work done.

Let’s go.
