Catching up over spring break

11 March 2014

Do what you love: just start

So it’s finally spring break and the blog got a face lift!

What do you think?

The last couple of weeks have been so busy with school readings, assignments, and the like. Mix in family time, catching up with friends and the important stuff of life.

But I’m so glad to be able to get a little breather before school starts up again next week. And while the textbooks are shelved for now, I’ve pulled out my notepads and paper to plan and dream up new things for the blog.

Is there anything new you would like to see on the blog?
I always love hearing from you guys, so please let me know!

I’ve missed being here, but it’s good to be back. Always.

I hope your day is fabulous x.

Friday Favorites no. 018 | links from the week

28 February 2014

This week’s been crazy busy. In between activities and trying to recover from the flu, I didn’t spend very much time on the internet at all. Which is pretty fine by me, actually.

While it’s a little hard to believe that it’s already going to be the weekend, here are some of my favorites this week:

  • This delicious-looking flourless chocolate cake from BleuBird.
  • 7 habits of incredibly happy people.
  • 8 ways to simplify pocket scrapbooking from a new resource/blog, The Pocket Source.
  • These 10 ideas for small spaces.
  • This amazing E. E. Cummings brush script printable by my new instagram-friend, Vanessa (she’s incredibly creative!)
  • And this fun + simple DIY mouse pad by Amanda Rydell

Short and sweet.

I hope your weekend is fabulous.
xx.

Reminding myself of these words of wisdom today and this week.

After all,

“The first to apologize is the bravest.
The first to forgive is the strongest.
And the first to forget is the happiest…”

This is like Friday Favorites. But on Saturday.

And although it’s been busy around here lately (hence the silence around these parts), I managed to sneak in a little bit of time to find some links I loved this week!

Needing to execute those plans.

Itching to get organized.

Giving thanks.

Enjoying school + all my education classes.

True Love

14 February 2014

1-john-419 (1)

“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.”

– John 3:16-18, The Message

Now that is true love – giving up His life in love so that we could live instead.

May you always embrace His precious love.
Happy Valentine’s Day.

Remembering this quote today as I do my best to stay on top of things, despite how crazy busy it has been.

It’s one of those weeks where I feel like I don’t have enough hours in a day to complete my endless to-do list. So I’m just trying to stay focused and work at getting stuff done.

And as soon as this busyness eases, I’ll be back. Promise.

I spent a bit more time on the internet than I should’ve this week (shame on me!).

But that’s good news for you all because here’s another round of things that caught my eye this week:

  • Discovered Rachel’s Project Life spreads via Pinterest and love them!
  • This article about five ways to stay healthy despite a crazy busy stressful schedule.
  • Albeit an article from January, but a good one by Pink Ronnie about being present and not distracted.
  • Not sure how I didn’t see this earlier, but I love these New Rules of a Creator’s Life.
  • Love finding new fonts and trying them out.
  • These double chocolate cake doughnuts by Joy the Baker
  • And Nutella french toast with strawberries, yum!
  • Also, digging this color combo and outfit.

Happy Friday, everyone!

Valentine’s Day | love notes

6 February 2014

With just a little over a week to Valentine’s Day, it’s time to get cracking on those Valentine’s Day notes!

Truth be told, I’m not into Valentine’s Day at all. But I do love any excuse to print and use cute printables to share with my family and friends.

There are plenty of Valentine’s Day ideas floating around Pinterest. But I loved these printables and printed them out pronto. Here’s a bonus – they’re free! So grateful for people who share their creativity on the internet at no cost.

I ran out of paper at the end and didn’t get to print out these Valentines from A Fabulous Fete and A Pair and A Spare.

But I will, as soon as I get my hands on more paper.

I hope your day is lovely indeed!

22 recipes // tiramisu brownies

5 February 2014

Tiramisu brownies by Roxana’s Home Baking

tiramisu-brownies

I was looking for a recipe for a friend’s birthday cake and came across these tiramisu brownies that I had pinned on Pinterest. Turns out that these made an interesting combination.

My taste-testers didn’t think this resembled a true tiramisu. But aside from the name, the mix of mascapone cheese and coffee made this pretty good.

My brownies didn’t swirl and marble as prettily as I would’ve liked. But anyhow, I think this kinda makes a fancy, grown-up cake, and a good after-dinner dessert. Yum.

9 down, 13 to go.
