Back to blogging + June currents

Ameliawrites-June2016

Breaking the silence on the blog this past month with a list of Currents as I ease back into life after a very, very fulfilling and restful trip with my favorite people.

I had all these big ideas for scheduling posts, but as you might’ve guessed, things didn’t quite work out as I planned.

Trying: to tolerate the humidity. Singapore’s weather is killin’ it.

Reading: Essentialism by Greg McKeown and Newspaper Blackout by Austin Kleon

Missing: the feeling of being on vacation, but

Loving: everything we did, places we saw, and people we hung out with – so good! So grateful for safety, travel, delicious food and memories made.

Planning: to be productive this week.

Hoping: everything goes as planned so I can get lots done this week.

Praying: about new seasons of life.

Learning: lots from webinars. So many good ones, and many of them are free!

Catching up: on my to-do lists.

Dreaming: of big plans and experimenting with new things.

Remembering: to not be afraid of failure, nor of trying.

Looking forward: to making stuff again with all my new supplies from the USA. Also, I really want to get on top of documenting all our travels!

Feeling: excited about sharing my creative workspace on Crafted by Pam! I’ve never shown my crafty space in this much detail before – it’s where all the magic happens, which isn’t always pretty, but it’s definitely worth it! It’s been up for awhile so hop over if you missed it.

Here’s to the rest of June being just as rad; have a wonderfully productive week! xx.

Ameliawrites-23thankful

Things have been busy around here as I wrap up the spring term, celebrate birthdays, and make plans for summer school, amidst other activities.

And with so much going on, it’s easy to get stressed out and a little frustrated/worried/frazzled sometimes.

Especially after reading Ali’s post, I thought today, now, would be a perfect time to remind myself of all the things I’m thankful for at this point in my life.

23 things I’m thankful for:

  1. I’m thankful for family dinners.
  2. I’m thankful for projects and assignments that keep me busy.
  3. I’m thankful for nights of good rest.
  4. I’m thankful for laughter and inside jokes.
  5. I’m thankful for down-to-earth friends I can connect with.
  6. I’m thankful for opportunities to trust and learn and grow.
  7. I’m thankful for the convenience of technology.
  8. I’m thankful for encouraging professors who make my college experience what it is.
  9. I’m thankful for creative outlets.
  10. I’m thankful for air-conditioning on warm evenings.
  11. I’m thankful for the newness of mornings.
  12. I’m thankful for rain.
  13. I’m thankful for the bonds of family that hold us together so, so tightly.
  14. I’m thankful for my faith that keeps me grounded.
  15. I’m thankful for the amusement of sing-aloud sessions.
  16. I’m thankful for the strengths of my ESFJ personality. And also for its weaknesses.
  17. I’m thankful for challenges that make me stronger.
  18. I’m thankful for people who are willing to tell me the hard things.
  19. I’m thankful for grace, mercy, love.
  20. I’m thankful for situations that train me to look past the surface.
  21. I’m thankful for the hope, excitement and anticipation of possibilities.
  22. I’m thankful for people who are willing to listen.
  23. I’m thankful for the gift of life.

Reminding myself to keep going.

More than a little excited that Christmas break is less than a month away!

A little apprehensive about how I’m going to make it through the next couple of weeks.

But plodding on anyway.

Trying to stay focused.

Enjoying our Christmas decorations that just went up last night!

Needing words to get started on my essay + paper due this week.

Excited for the weekend. As always.

Getting inspired by watching Becky Higgins talk about Project Life and scrapbooking on Creative Live!

And so thankful for replays that let me watch while it’s actually daylight over here.

The secret to getting ahead is getting started.

Only one more day to the weekend!

I hope the rest of your week is crazy productive.
Like how I hope mine will be.

Choosing not to let myself be overwhelmed by all the things I need to do but don’t have enough time for.

Embracing the rain + cool weather.

Staying warm despite the rain.

So, so thankful for God-given friendships.

Eagerly anticipating the weekend.

Plodding on to the end of the week.

Persevering to the end of the term.

Really needing a break, pronto.

But counting down the weeks until Christmas break(!!!)

Getting into the Christmas holiday spirit.

Still a little bit in disbelief that it’s almost halfway through November and 42 DAYS until Christmas!

Reminding myself to dare to dream BIG.

If you can dream it, you can do it. – Walt Disney

I hope your week’s been some kind of fabulous xx.

tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it yet...Anne of Green Gables

I’ve been an Anne of Green Gables fan since I was little. And Anne Shirley certainly has some wise words for me today.

In between trying not to feel overwhelmed by all the work I need to do/to-do lists I need to complete, and balancing my overachiever tendencies, I’m remembering how thankful I am that I have another chance to make tomorrow even better, despite today not being as good as I would’ve liked it to be.

At least there’s still a brand-new tomorrow to do better.

I’m so glad Anne Shirley is right.

Every Wednesday, I share a quote + some thoughts that have been especially relevant in my life during the week. Read more Wednesday Words here.
