Resolved.

2 January 2013

New Year’s resolutions are always on my mind at the beginning of the year. And given, we all begin with good intentions, which don’t really guarantee that resolutions are kept/goals are met.

But that’s the beauty of a new year – you get the chance to start over and begin with a clean slate all over again. And that’s what I love so much about starting each new year.

This year, my resolutions include:

  • Run every week
  • Spend less time on social media
  • Spend more time on things I enjoy, like reading, family time, and Project Life
(and if that means less time blogging, that’s okay too!)
  • Spend at least five minutes in the Word every day
  • Keep up with Project Life
  • Actually print photos

I’m keeping these twenty thirteen resolutions + goals short and simple. And God willing, I’ll be able to look back on this year and be thankful that I actually finished what I started.

But we’ll wait and see for how that plays out.

Anyhow, I hope your year has been off to a fabulous start so far.
2013, you’re going to be good.

xx.

But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:13-14

New year, new beginnings

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

Here’s to an amazing year with experiencing more of God’s goodness!

I’m excited for what this new year will bring.

2012: in retrospect

31 December 2012

So here we are, standing again at the end of yet another year, and at the start of a brand new one. It seems like I always come to the end of each year and wonder where time went, and how insanely quickly it flew by.

But what can I say? Twenty twelve pretty much blew me away.

This year, I…

  • traveled around Asia
  • visited Malacca, Tioman, Bangkok/Pua, Manila
  • went diving for the first time and got my license
  • turned twenty-one!
  • made new friends all over the world <3
  • attempted to do Project Life and Project 52 and failed miserably (and that’s okay!)
  • started university
  • completed (most of) the 20 list
  • celebrated this blog turning one!
  • tried balut and silkworms (for the experience)
  • took my cello exam and passed with distinction (majorly thankful!)
  • learned to trust God, His perfect plans and time, and His sovereignty
  • got straight bangs
  • baked a cupcake tower for a wedding
  • bought a spankin’ new laptop
  • learned how to drive
  • learned how to sew
  • led a Bible study group
  • started running, and ran 5K, 9K, and 10Ks
  • watched the Olympics
  • jumped onto the Instagram bandwagon
  • gained new perspectives on life
  • learned + re-learned lessons
  • was reminded of how blessed I am + how good God is to me
  • felt truly free
  • saw God answer prayer in ways I never imagined
  • went on a Journey of a lifetime that pretty much changed my life

2012 was pretty amazing, if you ask me; I daresay, this might’ve been the best year yet. God is so good.

Each new year always seems to bring with it a new level of questions and uncertainties. And while only God knows what’s in store for 2013, judging by what He did this year, I can already tell next year will be pretty swell. I’m completely excited for what He will do this coming year!

Wishing you a very merry + blessed 2013 to you and yours.

Right now: Christmas Eve

Soaking in every single minute of the festivities.

Finishing up Christmas wrapping and cards.

Baking Christmas cupcakes.

Enjoying all the things I love about Christmas – lights, decorations, food, family time…

Listening to Christmas music.

Spending time with people I love.

Thankful for family and traditions.

Remembering that Jesus is the reason for the season.

Choosing to collect moments, not things this Christmas.

Anticipating Christmas tomorrow!

Merry Christmas (eve)!

The view outside the window

18 December 2012

Plane views are one of my favorite parts about flying – those blue skies and puffy white clouds somehow make for very pretty pictures. And since I’ve had the privilege of flying about these last couple of weeks, I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite plane views just for fun.

While some of these look pretty similar, none of them look exactly the same.
And I love that
.

It still blows me away seeing how pretty the clouds are. God is so amazing.

Enjoy!

Life is a journey.

Two weeks ago, I left on a plane that took me on a Journey. And when I returned this week, I came home a different person.

Leaving for Manila, I wasn’t particularly excited because I was just tired from all the traveling I’d done the two weeks before and all I really wanted to do was rest. But God had other plans for me and sent me there anyway.

Our time in Manila was pretty amazing. And I wouldn’t trade the friendships formed, the memories made, and the lessons learned for anything. God taught me so much and it was utterly refreshing getting to spend so much time with Him. I loved getting to see old friends, meet new ones, eat a ton, spend lots of alone time with Jesus, go running + swimming + play volleyball, have girl talks and stay up late (some nights), sing songs, have bonfire night (complete with s’mores – yum!), do crazy things…

God knew exactly what I needed and taught me so much. And He reminded me of what’s really important in life.

I miss my new friends more than I ever thought I would.
God is so good and I couldn’t be more thankful.

I hope your weekend’s been amazing.

There’s no place like home.

After three countries, and almost twenty days away from home, for the last time this year, I’m unpacked and finally putting my passport aside – at least until 2013.

I really do love traveling, experiencing new things, and getting all these stamps in my passport. But still, nothing quite beats being home. And actually getting to stay for awhile.

While the deadlines are pressing and there a ton of things on the to-do list (Christmas in 13 days!), I’m excited for whatever is left of twenty twelve. And I’m totally looking forward to spending time with people I miss (:

It’s good to be home.
For sure.

Collect moments, not things.

30 November 2012

Last week, with excitement + anticipation, and two carry-ons, I boarded a plane to the Land of Smiles and came home with a camera full of pictures, and a heart full of memories, which I wouldn’t trade for anything.

While things didn’t always go as planned/expected, God was sovereign through it all and I really couldn’t have asked for things to work out any other way.

I soaked in every moment of being there – bonding with the kids, eating good food, laughing + hanging out, playing games, traveling, experiencing new things, taking pictures, teaching, spending time with friends… And loved every single minute.

Like this first post, time passed by waaayyy too quickly, and I wish we could’ve stayed longer. But I was reminded of so many things and left that town with my heart so full, and especially thankful + grateful for so many good things.

I miss this place already.

So many good memories;
God is so good, really.

Right now: Thursday

29 November 2012

Still majorly missing being in Pua.

Enjoying looking at pictures and remembering memories made.

Hardly believing how close we are to the end of twenty twelve.

Reminding myself to enjoy each moment that is left of this year.

Trying to get work done by this weekend.

Unpacking + packing for the next trip.

Needing rest.

Not minding if things slowed down a bit, but grateful for everything that keeps me busy.

Learning to be patient.

Trusting God for whatever He has ahead.

Giving my plans and dreams to Him.

Looking forward to Christmas break.

Excited to start wrapping Christmas presents and making Christmas cards soon.

I’ll look back on this and smile because it was LIFE and I decided to live it.

I hope the rest of your week is amazing.
xo.

So much to be thankful for.

Where I’m spending Thanksgiving this year is in itself something to be thankful for.

There is truly something to be thankful for in every day. And every day, I remind myself to count my blessings and be thankful – for the good, the bad, the ugly… Everything.

The list of things I’m thankful for seems to be especially long this year; God is so very good.

Those who are the happiest, never did have everything. But rather, they are thankful for everything they do have.

Happy Thanksgiving!
