Feel the Spirit: London 2012

6 August 2012

Source: blog.imbreannarose.com via Amelia on Pinterest

We’re definitely well into the Olympics, with being more than halfway through and having less than a week to go until the closing ceremony.

While having to practice for cello exam hasn’t afforded me time to catch as much of the Olympics as I would’ve liked to, I’ve loved whatever I’ve managed to catch of it – my favorite events now are probably gymnastics and synchronized diving + swimming (:

I love everything that the Olympics represents: patience, determination, perseverance, excellence, hard work, courage, strength, healthy competition, dreaming big.

I think the Olympic Creed says it best:

“The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.“

Love that last line.

I hope you’re embracing the Olympic Spirit as much you can while it lasts!

CHA summer 2012 favorites

29 July 2012

CHA Summer was so last week, I know.
(For those of you who don’t know, CHA stands for Craft and Hobby Association, is held twice yearly and is where new products are released.)

But I couldn’t help but share some of my favorites from the new releases – time to start saving money for all the pretty paper goodness! Plus some lovely embellishments and stamps, of course (:

First up, American Crafts: I’m absolutely loving these American Crafts collaborations with some amazing designers – Dear Lizzy and Amy Tangerine are definitely all-time favorites!

Studio Calico outdid itself this time with three new collections, complete with mists, wood veneers, mistables, and their newly released Handbook.

School was so two years ago. But I still think the colors and shapes on these are great! I especially love the pie-chart patterned one on the top left.

We all need another date stamp, don’t we?

And more wood veneers. Perfect.

At first I thought I liked the On trend papers the best of Crate’s three new collections, but then I realized that I liked Acorn Avenue better. But honestly, they’re all really good (:

It’s so hard to pick favorites,  I tell you. But these are some of the ones I especially can’t wait to lay my hands on. I bet you can’t tell that I especially love patterned papers and stamps, haha (;

Here’s to an amazing week!

Hello July

1 July 2012

Why, hello July, you’re here too soon.

Your arrival signals the almost unbelievable, but true, fact that we’re already *officially* into the second-half of 2012. Which is pretty much crazy just thinking about it.

You aren’t usually exceptionally exciting.

But hello, hard work. Hello more cello practices, driving lessons, string rehearsals, and sewing classes. Hello busy schedules and (seemingly) endless to-do lists. Hello making new friends and experiencing new things. Hello proper running routines and two more months to complete the twenty list.

Hello, July. I think you just might be the start of a really productive month.

Right now: Thursday

Pleased that I (finally) went running after two weeks.

Drooling over new arrivals at my local scrapbook store.

Telling myself that I really don’t need any more scrapbook supplies than I already have.

Reminding myself of the pact to SAVE MONEY.

Enjoying driving lessons.

Choosing to make God more than enough and to remember His goodness every day.

Needing to fully utilize every single waking moment.

Looking forward to the weekend! (:

Start counting down to the weekend! (:

Checking in.

Oh, how I wish my to-do list were that simple.

Alas, it isn’t.

Because, while to-do lists help me stay sane and manage the stress of everything that needs to get done, it sometimes actually becomes the source of my stress instead because I have so much to do, so little time.

So, my to-do list has been keeping me from this space lately, hence the silence/lack of posts.

But time to stop, relax, BREATHE. Be awesome (:

I hope your week is smashingly good.

Happy Father’s Day

My father didn’t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.
– Clarence Budington Kelland

I know things haven’t always been easy, and I know I haven’t always been the best daughter.

But thank you for always sticking with me through thick and thin, for making sacrifices for me, for our family, for working hard and providing for us, for taking the time and effort to spend time with us and be a part of our lives, for teaching us how to love God and His Word, for striving to give us the best life possible.

Happy Father’s Day, Daddy.

I love you,
xoxo.

Needing to get back into some kind of running routine.

Kinda sorta wishing I’d decided to go and climb Mt. Rinjani next week.
*but Mom and I are gonna have a blast together, just the two of us. So we’re good (:

Thinking about scaling down my blog reading list.

Telling myself to stop spending too much time on the computer.

Anticipating a very full schedule and hoping things will fall in place for all those activities.

Marveling at how God is just exciting like that.

Still praying for opportunity and God’s sovereignty in working things out.

Dreaming about a new scrap space.

Loving eating banana cake – all day, every day (almost).

Hardly believing that tomorrow’s already Friday.

I hope your week’s been lovely so far! (:

Dream.

Totally.

Being in Pua (even for those short few days) gave me courage to dream again.
Albeit with a few reality checks, just so.

But, ahh, now it’s time to go out and make those dreams happen.

Time to sprinkle the glitter and fairy dust! (:

Hello June.

We’re already three days into June, I know. But, hello June.

Hello sunny days, hair up in ponytails and ice cream. Hello driving lessons, lots of activities, cello practices. Hello save-money-despite-the-Great-Singapore-Sale days. Hello hanging out with friends and laughing. Hello (I hope) more time to make stuff.

2012, you’re going by way to fast. Please slow down.

But ahh, June, I’m going to make you a good one (:

Hello month, inspired by this post.

I left my heart in Pua

28 May 2012

Just like that, I’m home from my trip to Pua.

It feels like I didn’t get enough time there because time practically flew by.

Despite all my apprehension, I loved everything about being there and I miss Pua already.

So many good things about this trip – the people, the food, the memories, the kids, the place. Everything.

I can’t quite put into words how amazing this trip was.
It gave me a major perspective shift – about life, about satisfaction, about simple things.

God is good.

I’ll definitely be back (:

<3

P.S. In case you were wondering, everything in my carry-on was just under 7kg. YAY me (:
