2014: this was the year

31 December 2014

Ameliawrites-NYE2014

What a year 2014 was.

This was the year I formed friendships through Instagram.
This was the year I ran my personal best 10K.
This was the year I focused on building this blog.
This was the year I made memories at USS.
This was the year I celebrated three years of blogging.
This was the year I learned about the important things in life.
This was the year I learned to trust.
This was the year I tightened my friendships in real life.
This was the year I pressed on through a challenging year at school.
This was the year I discovered new places and went on new adventures.
This was the year I pushed my creativity.
This was the year I documented life.
This was the year I grew in new ways.

This was the year I saw God be true and real all over again.

2014 was such a good ride in so many ways.

As the clock ticks toward midnight and we ring in the New Year, I am so thankful for all that 2014 was, and I am so looking forward to all that 2015 will be.

Happy Blessed New Year, friends!

May it be the best year yet.

P.S. I’ll be taking the next few days off and I’ll see you again during the first week of January!

Let’s look at December

30 December 2014

December is always a flurry of activity but ’twas a fun one nonetheless.

Here’s what kept me busy on the blog this month:

I made my last Get Messy page of the year.

Gold, doily, and black on an art journal page

I learned nine things from last month’s 30-day habit challenge.

Getting to chat with Felicitas and Heather was definitely inspiring.

1 December 2014

Guys, this year is ending in record time and I’m soaking it up while it lasts.

As we say goodbye to November, here’s a round up of all that happened on the blog this month.

I shared about the 30 day habit challenge that I started on.

I hope your week ahead is full of sunshine and sparkles!

Let’s look at October

29 October 2014

How is it that we’re already at the end of October and less than two months until Christmas? Red Christmas cups are already out at Starbucks, which just signals how quickly this year is coming to an end. Wowza.

Despite how quickly time is flying by, here’s a look at what happened on the blog this month:

My love for Get Messy continues to run deep and this month was no exception.

Let’s look at September

30 September 2014

Granted, September was my birthday month which made it extra fun. But it’s always nice looking back at the past month and seeing all that went down here on the blog.

At the beginning of September, I participated in a blog hop that sweet Catherine nominated me for.

I shared the remaining recipes from the 22 list, including these banana chocolate chip muffins and oven-roasted cauliflower.

How was your September? I’m totally excited for the last three months of 2014 – starting with October. Let’s go.

Let’s look at July…

31 July 2014

Writing these monthly recap posts always makes me wonder where time went and realize again how quickly the rest of 2014 is flying by. And although July is generally a “slow” month around here, even this month seemed to be over in a blink of an eye.

But here’s a look at what we did:

This month, we chatted with Meg, Caylee, and Pam in another round of the Creative Conversations.

I shared some of my favorite links from the week here and here.

And chatted about real life and hitting pause.

As always, thank you for being a huge part of what I do here. You guys are the best.

I can’t wait to see what August will bring. Let’s roll.

Hit pause.

9 July 2014

When life gets busy, I’m reminded that it’s okay to pause, take a break, and step away from the busyness sometimes.

And that’s how it’s been for me these past couple of weeks – trying to make the everyday moments count because I only get one shot. As I stay busy creating adventure and living life, those are the moments that add up.

I’ll be back with regular posting soon. Thank you for sticking with me.

You guys are the best.

Let’s look at June…

30 June 2014

Each month just seems to fly by. Somehow, this month especially flew by for me. It may be a combination of work + play that helped the month go by so quickly. Either way, it’s hard to believe that next month is already July and halfway through 2014!

June was a little quieter than usual here on the blog. But here’s what went down this month:

This month, we chatted with my creative friends, Andrea and Cindy.

I went on a road trip with my friends.

I’m excited for what the second-half of the year has in store – so glad for you guys to be joining me!

Bring on July.

Already Thursday.

12 June 2014

Malacca-roadtrip8June

St. Paul’s Hill (A’Famosa), Malacca, Malaysia

I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time getting back to “work mode” after having a good time over the weekend.

And if you haven’t already noticed, it’s been pretty quiet here on the blog this week.

This past weekend, I took a road trip with my friends and spent the weekend in Malacca – eating good food, hanging out, having fun, going shopping, exploring the city and having a blast overall. It was very likely my first and last road trip this summer. But such a good one that I’m not complaining.

Now, I’m getting back into the routine of life and catching up on school, after plodding through a bout of the Tuesday blues (since we got home on Monday). After a weekend of play, that isn’t always the most fun or easiest thing to do.

But I’m embracing the realities of life and loving it anyway. And just maybe, trying not to panic over the fact that it’s already Thursday and deadlines are looming!

In the meantime, you can check out some of these blog posts, depending on what floats your boat (:

  • DIYs from the 21 list
  • Recipes from the 22 list
  • Creative layouts and projects from back in the day
  • Things Adelia made (featuring my little sister!)

Have fun looking around. I’ll be back soon.

Let’s look at May…

2 June 2014

As we embark on June and wonder where all the time in May went, I thought it would be fun to do a recap of everything that happened on the blog during the month.

Here we go.

This month, we chatted with Laura and Olya during our Creative Conversations – so good getting to know my Instagram friends better.
