Back to blogging + June currents

13 June 201612 June 2016

Ameliawrites-June2016

Breaking the silence on the blog this past month with a list of Currents as I ease back into life after a very, very fulfilling and restful trip with my favorite people.

I had all these big ideas for scheduling posts, but as you might’ve guessed, things didn’t quite work out as I planned.

Trying: to tolerate the humidity. Singapore’s weather is killin’ it.

Reading: Essentialism by Greg McKeown and Newspaper Blackout by Austin Kleon

Missing: the feeling of being on vacation, but

Loving: everything we did, places we saw, and people we hung out with – so good! So grateful for safety, travel, delicious food and memories made.

Planning: to be productive this week.

Hoping: everything goes as planned so I can get lots done this week.

Praying: about new seasons of life.

Learning: lots from webinars. So many good ones, and many of them are free!

Catching up: on my to-do lists.

Dreaming: of big plans and experimenting with new things.

Remembering: to not be afraid of failure, nor of trying.

Looking forward: to making stuff again with all my new supplies from the USA. Also, I really want to get on top of documenting all our travels!

Feeling: excited about sharing my creative workspace on Crafted by Pam! I’ve never shown my crafty space in this much detail before – it’s where all the magic happens, which isn’t always pretty, but it’s definitely worth it! It’s been up for awhile so hop over if you missed it.

Here’s to the rest of June being just as rad; have a wonderfully productive week! xx.

The Magic of Beginnings

4 January 2016

onelittlebird-thrive-byameliang2

“And suddenly you know… It’s time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.”

– Meister Eckhart

Woohoo, welcome to 2016!

I’ve been gone from this blog (and really, just social media in general) for way too long but the new year is the perfect opportunity to begin again and I’m glad to finally be back!

During the last quarter of 2015, I started student teaching and soon realized that I couldn’t do it all. So I hit the pause button on some things (like social media), in order to thrive and keep up with other things (like real life). The focus shift to real, unedited life explains my absence from any sort of social media.

Looking back now, 2015 was a big year for me personally and professionally. I got this blog on an official “dot com”, graduated from school, created and documented many memories, formed new friendships and deepened others, tried new things, learned new lessons, and gained fresh experiences, amidst other exciting adventures.

Looking forward, I’m excited for what 2016 has in store, including big blog goals, more documenting and creating, and another year on the One Little Bird Creative Team.

I’ve missed writing, creating and community but I’m excited to face 2016 with big dreams, grand plans and achievable goals.

Stay tuned to read more about my 2016 goals later this week!

Happy sparkle-filled New Year, friends.

Let’s look at August + September

30 September 20151 October 2015

As we get ready to welcome October and start the countdown to the end of the year (only 92 days left guys!), I decided to put August and September together and give you one giant round-up for the two months combined!

August was exciting around these parts as I celebrated my newly relaunched site.

Let’s look at May

4 June 2015

With (inter)National Scrapbooking Day, Mother’s Day and birthdays in our family, May was an exciting month! Still, it flew by pretty quickly.

Let’s look at April

30 April 2015

The month of April seemed to slip right by for me, as I tried to keep up with the deluge of assignments and deadlines that accompanied this past month. Which also means that things on the blog front ended up being quieter than I would have liked it to be.

That said, I’m looking forward to writing more in May and getting on top of my blogging game. But in the meantime, here’s a short and sweet recap of what happened in April!

I had the fun opportunity to write a guest post for the Life Documented Manila blog at the beginning of April.

Ameliawrites-LifedocumentedManila

I also started the 100 Day Project – exciting and scary at the same time!

I can’t believe how quickly we’re approaching the middle of the year, but I’m ready to take on May! Let’s do this.

Guest post for Life Documented Manila

1 April 2015

Ameliawrites-LifedocumentedManila

Helloooo, April!

I never thought I would be so excited about a new month, but April is here and I’m looking forward to what this month has in store.

Earlier in March, I got to meet Pinky and Yam (who are 2/3 of the team behind Life Documented Manila) during their visit to Singapore. It’s always exciting getting to meet Instagram friends in real life! We talked about scrapbooking over red velvet waffles, then went shopping for art supplies. So much fun.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of being on the Life Documented Manila blog, where I shared about my experience with pocket scrapbooking. You can read all the details here!

Happy Wednesday! xx.

Let’s look at March

30 March 2015

I’m just trying to figure out how we arrived at the end March, which also marks the end the first quarter of 2015. Whaaaat.

This year feels like it’s been around for awhile, yet it also feels like it’s flown by all at the same time.

Ah wells, I’m embracing all of it while I can.

One of the reasons why March was so fun was that I got to go on Spring break (woohoo!)

Ameliawrites-Springbreak2015

Continuing with the All the Memories series this month, I talked about embellishments, lessons learned, and starting memory keeping.

Plus, I shared some of my favorite Project Life spreads to date (week 14 / week 18).

I’m all ready for April!

Yes for Spring!

9 March 2015

Ameliawrites-Springbreak2015

I’m super excited for spring break this week, and you can be sure that I’ll be taking advantage of the time off to recharge, rest and go on an adventure.

But that also means I’ll be taking a break from blogging this week so I can be fully present and enjoy the moments as they come.

In the meantime, here are some things you can do:

  • Catch up on the All the Memories series (there are currently already eight posts in this series).
  • Meet the new One Little Bird 2015 Creative team. (Totally stoked about being a part of this!)
  • Start a 30 day habit challenge for the month of March.
  • Get creative and get messy.
  • Find a way to stay organized.
  • Try a new recipe or DIY project.
  • Be inspired by creativity.
  • Leave me a comment or question about memory keeping so we can talk about it!

I’ll be back to regular programming next week.

Until then! xx.

P.S. The super fun Go. See. Do. printable is by my friend Lauren and you can get it when you sign up for the Lauren Likes blog newsletter. Don’t miss out!

Let’s look at February

28 February 2015

February was such a short and sweet month. And I loved it.

I don’t typically remember myself loving February. But this time, I did.

Also, here’s what happened on the blog this month!

I added more posts to the All the Memories series: 15 memories to document in 2015 / Documenting with pocket scrapbooking / 10 must-have tools for memory keepers / 5 ways to make time for memory keeping

I whipped up some quick and easy Valentine’s Day cards to spread the love.

I also finished Week 17 of Project Life 2014.

Since February is the month of love, I made these two love-themed art pages based on the Get Messy prompts.

Let’s look at January

31 January 2015

Guys, I think I say this all the time, but where has time gone and why is it already the end of January??

Such is a mystery I think I’ll never comprehend; time definitely flies.

Since there’s no point in bemoaning how quickly time has passed, let’s just take a look at what went down on the blog this month!

I started the year with a look at my 2015 planner and blog planner set-up.

I put all of 2014’s Creative Conversations in one blog post to give you so much inspiration in one place!

19 posts of inspiring Creative Conversations in one place!

Since 2015 is the year to document those memories, I started a brand-new memory keeping series talking about all things memory keeping. I have three posts in the series so far: 5 reasons why you should be a memory keeper / 5 ways to start memory keeping / 12 ways to document your memories).

Are you a memory keeper yet? Here are five reasons why.

Not sure how to start memory keeping? Here are five ways for you.

I gave myself permission to disconnect because it’s okay to disconnect sometimes.

I made two art journal pages for Get Messy and I love creating again.
