He has risen, just as He said.

20 April 2014

AMEN.

Rejoicing in the message of hope that Resurrection Sunday brings because He lives!

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. – 1 Peter 1:3 (NLT)

Life through Death

18 April 2014

Transient

He never sinned,
    nor ever deceived anyone.
He did not retaliate when he was insulted,
nor threaten revenge when he suffered.
He left his case in the hands of God,
    who always judges fairly.
He personally carried our sins
in his body on the cross
so that we can be dead to sin
and live for what is right.
By his wounds
    you are healed.
Once you were like sheep
    who wandered away.
But now you have turned to your Shepherd,
    the Guardian of your souls.

– 1 Peter 2:22-25 (NLT)

Some people ask, What is good about Good Friday? What is good about remembering the death of a man on a cross?

It may all seem like grief and gloom, but I love that Good Friday doesn’t just end at the cross. Jesus rose from the grave three days after His crucifixion, conquering sin and death once and for all.

Such is the paradox of Good Friday – everlasting life through temporal death.

Because through one man’s death, the world now has life. Through one man’s sacrifice, the world experiences the love of God.

True Love

14 February 2014

1-john-419 (1)

“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.”

– John 3:16-18, The Message

Now that is true love – giving up His life in love so that we could live instead.

May you always embrace His precious love.
Happy Valentine’s Day.

Have a little faith

After being sick on the first day of school this week, and dealing with the worry of delayed/lost/missing school books (I still don’t know which!), it’s comforting + reassuring to know that things will always work out. Somehow.

And all you need is to have a little faith that things will be okay.
Even when things don’t according to plan.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Up from the grave He arose.

Good Friday is always a reminder of how much Jesus has done for me, for you, and for all humanity – the Son of God who chose to die so that those who believe in Him would have eternal life. But Jesus Christ didn’t stay dead. Three days later, He rose from the dead to conquer sin and death forever. What an amazing God.

Today is a day in remembrance of Him. And Easter Sunday is a day to rejoice in His power over sin and death. May the depth of Christ’s love and the hope of His message constantly penetrate our hearts.

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” – 2 Corinthians 5:21
